The Dental Assisting Curriculum is an instructional program providing a 13 week Dental Assisting Course consisting of 78 hours of lecture and lab and a 30 hour externship with a practicing dentist. The program utilizes a hands-on educational approach where students learn by doing. The course includes lectures on fundamentals of general dentistry and the basic skills, knowledge and technical proficiency necessary to assist the dentist in the most common procedures performed in a professional dental office. Completion of the program will allow the student to have enough training to qualify for an entry level position in most dental offices.

Dental Assistants School of Indiana is dedicated to the ideals of developing efficient, effective dental assistants through a competency based program. Some topics covered in the course:

Dental Assistants Curriculum

Expanded Functions Dental Assisting ( EFDA )

Dental Assistants School of Indiana does teach EFDA. This is a 6 week course which meets for 6 hours every other week Please call to inquire about the class specifics.

Dental Assistant Externship

Dental Assistants School of Indiana requires a 30 hour externship. The externship provides students with real hands on experience, and allows students in training the opportunity to work in a functioning office under direct supervision and guidance of experienced dental professionals. Students are encouraged to find their own externships after class 7. Our school will help identify and assist in potential opportunities in the area.

Required Reading

Students are required to purchase or rent the text book for class. Please order your textbook in advance due to shipping times. You may purchase your textbook from Amazon or elsewhere as long it is the same book and edition used in the course. The lecture and lab binders will be provided.
